The Belgian Football Federation has successfully convinced young striker Mathias Fernandez Pardo to represent Belgium internationally, making him available for the upcoming World Cup.
The Lille player is enjoying an outstanding season in Ligue 1, prompting Belgium to move quickly to secure his commitment, especially given the injury struggles and declining form of some of their attacking options.
Pardo, born in Brussels to an Italian father and a Spanish mother, admitted the decision was not easy due to his ties to both Belgium and Spain. However, he was swayed by positive conversations with Belgium coach Rudi Garcia, as well as encouragement from his Lille teammates to make his final choice.
