Francesco Farioli, head coach of FC Porto, spoke to the press at the Estádio do Desportivo das Aves after his team’s 3-1 defeat to AVS. The Italian manager acknowledged that while the record for most points in a season is now unattainable, his squad will push to finish with 88 points.
“Today, we conceded three goals from the three times they entered our box. Without Bednarek and Diogo Costa, who are both dominant in aerial duels, you can end up suffering in situations like these. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to reach 91 points. So we’ll try to make 88. But once again, being on 85 points at this stage means that in every other match, the players’ work has been fantastic,” Farioli said.
Despite the setback, the coach praised his team’s overall campaign, highlighting the consistency shown throughout the season. With only a few games remaining, FC Porto will aim to finish strongly and secure the highest possible tally.
