Minnesota Wild forward Yakov Trenin made a significant physical impact in Game 4 of the second-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche, recording eight hits in just 12:22 of ice time. The 29-year-old Russian logged all of his hits at even strength during the 5-2 loss, which put the Wild behind 3-1 in the series.
In the second period, Trenin was penalized for a hand pass, leading to a power play for Colorado. The Avalanche capitalized just seven seconds into the man advantage, with Nazem Kadri scoring to tie the game at 1-1. Trenin also had one giveaway during his time on the ice.
Through eight games in the current playoffs, Trenin has collected two assists and a plus-3 rating. His 47 hits rank fifth in the league, trailing only Vegas’s Ivan Barbashev, who leads with 54 hits in 10 games.
